Appointments
Initial Consultations
Prior to your first visit I will email or post a comprehensive questionnaire. This enables me to assess your general health, menstrual cycle and medical history. It is important that the questionnaire is completed prior to your visit so that our discussion can be prioritised. You can either email your questionnaire back to me or bring it along to our session. At the first visit we will discuss your case in detail and set some initial health goals.
Fertility Consultations
There are many aspects of fertility that will be discussed during our sessions together. Topics that we will cover include: timing of conception-the how and the when, stress and fertility, foods for fertility, infections and fertility and many more. It is not possible to cover these topics in one or two visits, therefore I recommend that after the first visit, we get together every 4-6 weeks. I find the best results are obtained with regular contact so that we can adjust your program depending on your progress. I see both individuals e.g. single women and couples trying to conceive. For couples, it is recommended that both partners attend appointments. I do understand however that this is not always convenient, and therefore it is not compulsory that both partners attend. The same fee applies whether one or both partners attend appointments.
What to Bring
If you have had any medical tests within the past 12 months, please bring along copies of your results e.g. blood or seminal analysis. This is particularly important if you are currently under the care of a specialist. Though it may time and some persistence on your part, please obtain copies of your results even if they are 'normal'. This enables me to assess what kind of 'normal' you are, as well as factor in what tests have already been run and what future tests may be appropriate. If you've been unable to gather your results in time for the first visit, that is fine, please still come and we will discuss your results when they're available. For privacy reasons, I am unable to contact your doctor, so please make arrangements for the results to be sent directly to yourself.
If you've not yet seen a doctor, then that's fine. Many women and couples that come to see me are either in the early stages of trying to conceive. Depending on your circumstances, I can recommend appropriate tests and specialists if the need arises. If you are currently taking any medication prescribed by your doctor, please note the name and dose on your questionnaire. If you are currently taking any nutritional or herbal supplements, I can assess these more easily if you bring in the containers with you.
Health Fund Rebates
I am registered with all the private health funds and hold current Professional Indemnity Insurance. If you have private health insurance which includes extras cover for Naturopathy, you may be entitled to a rebate on consultation fees. As rebates differ between health funds, please check directly with your health fund if you'd like to know what rebates are available. If you do not have private health insurance, then please be aware that Medicare does not cover Naturopathic consultations.
