Trying to Conceive
It is estimated that approximately one in six Australian couples take longer than 12 months to conceive or carry pregnancy a full term (1). If you’re in this category, then it doesn’t mean that a healthy conception won’t happen. Many factors affect fertility, and the fertility of both partners is of equal importance. At Fertility Matters you will receive a personalised program designed to improve your health and address your fertility concerns. As a practitioner with a Masters degree, I am committed to providing you with a program based on the latest research. Your program may include:
Nutrition
While some aspects of your fertility may be beyond your control, e.g. age, others such as a healthy diet are manageable and achievable! Are you confused about what to eat and what not to eat? At Fertility Matters your program includes specific recommendations to support your fertility. While there are fertility ‘super foods’ which can be beneficial for us all, other recommendations will be specific for your needs. Polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis or poor sperm quality can all be improved using specific foods and nutrients. If you are overweight, you may find that losing a few kilos is all it takes to improve fertility. Fertility Matters can you achieve your ideal weight.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine has a long history of use in supporting both male and female reproductive health. As a herbal medicine specialist, I use herbs from Western Herbal Medicine (English), Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine. I commonly use herbal medicine to improve vitality, improve hormone balance or regulate the menstrual cycle. My priority is to provide clients with evidence based herbal medicine that is safe during pre-conception and early pregnancy; and compatible with prescribed medications. The herbal medicine that I prescribe is in either liquid or tablet form.
Natural Fertility Management
I can also help you monitor your cycle in order to pin point the most fertile times for conception attempts. There are several methods that can help us detect when ovulation is taking place. With many years experience in this area, I can assist you in interpreting temperature charting, cervical mucus changes or other methods of monitoring ovulation. That said, there is more to conception than just ovulation. The intricacies of your individual cycle may reveal suboptimal hormone levels that can be improved e.g. a menstrual cycle longer than 31 days.
